After you eat
Eating at your desk is fine. Cleaning up after it is not optional.
When you finish:
- Put the box, plate, spoon, and wrappers in the dustbin.
- Wipe the desk if food or oil touched it.
- Wash your hands before you touch your keyboard.
Do not leave it for the cleaner or for the person sitting next to you.
Use the dustbin
Everything goes in the dustbin. Not on the floor, not on a spare chair, not on someone else’s desk, not left on the table.
If the dustbin near you is full, use another one and tell the operations lead. A full dustbin is not a reason to leave rubbish beside it.
Your desk
Clear your desk before you go home. No plates, cups, boxes, or bottles.
Never leave food overnight. It smells and it brings insects.
Your laptop and equipment
The laptop is company equipment. Keep it clean.
Do not eat over the keyboard. Oil and crumbs kill keyboards, and a replacement takes days.
Shared spaces
Leave the kitchen, the table, and the meeting room the way you found them. If you used a plate or a cup, wash it.
Examples
You order biryani for the team and everyone eats at their desks.
The person who ordered is not responsible for the cleanup. Each person clears their own box, spoon, and wrappers.
Wipe your desk before you start work again.
It is 7 PM and your tea cup is still on your desk.
Take it to the kitchen and wash it. Do not leave it overnight.
The dustbin next to you is full.
Use another dustbin and tell the operations lead it needs emptying. Do not put rubbish on top of it or on the floor beside it.
You spill curry on your laptop keyboard.
Tell your lead the same day. Do not hide it and hope it works tomorrow.
Then stop eating over the keyboard.
You ate in the meeting room and left the box on the table.
Go back and clear it. The next meeting starts in that room, and a client may be on the call.
